Is your pet door going through a brick or weatherboard wall?
Perspex Specials are made to replace an existing glass pane or panes. They are not the same as a wall-mounted pet door system. For a pet door through a weatherboard, fibro, brick veneer or double-brick wall, you will generally need a suitable pet door together with a matching wall liner for the full wall depth. View wall liner options or contact Pet Doors Australia with your wall type, wall thickness and pet measurements.
Choose a wall liner for your wall construction
- Weatherboard or fibro walls: Select a wall liner that suits the complete finished wall depth. Measure from the inside wall lining to the outer face of the weatherboard or cladding, including the cavity.
- Brick veneer or double-brick walls: Measure the full thickness from the internal lining through the cavity and brickwork to the exterior face. A wall liner is used to bridge the opening through the wall rather than leaving the wall cavity exposed.
- Before choosing a flap size: Measure your dog’s shoulder height and widest chest or body point. Allow comfortable clearance so your dog can use the opening without crouching or squeezing through it.
Enquiry checklist: Please send your wall type, full wall thickness, pet measurements, a photo of the intended location from inside and outside, and your suburb.
Plan the wall opening before ordering
A wall pet door is a permanent opening through part of the home, so check the proposed position before purchasing. Brick walls may require cutting through masonry and finishing the opening correctly on both sides. Weatherboard and stud walls should be assessed for framing, wiring, plumbing and other services before an opening is made. The external edge of the opening should also be finished and sealed appropriately for its exposure to wind and rain.
